Irene Claire McGeary
May 21, 1935 - February 8, 2025
Tribute
Born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, lived in Queenston, Galt, Kitchener, Ottawa, Oakville and finally Maple Bay on Vancouver Island. She loved painting, her garden and her grand piano.
She was a special education teacher in Kitchener, Ottawa and Mississauga then retired in Oakville, Ontario and for the last 20 years, Maple Bay. She endured many adventures with Garth in their boat Grumbles in the canals of Ontario and New York State and later Desolation Sound and the Broughton’s in BC. Also land trips including cross Canada and the US by train and later motorhome from Newfoundland to Vancouver Island.
Predeceased by her first husband Bill Windsor, survived by her second husband of almost 50 years, Garth.
Survived by daughters Kate and Sue, grandchildren Erich, Kirsten, Kerrie and Kyle and great grandchildren Ryker, Aelin, Tanner and Cody.
Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Hamlets of Duncan for caring for her so well over the past four years.
A Wake is planned for Irene on Saturday, March 8th between 2 and 5 in the afternoon at 1092 Viewtop Road in Maple Bay.

Irene lived life large and embraced it with both hands and then some. A free spirit with a great sense of humour and an unbounded capacity to be a great friend. Jane and I will miss her greatly.
