Tribute

Chambers: Robert Earl Stirling – Passed away peacefully at the Cowichan District Hospital on February 10, 2011. Born in Vancouver, BC on October 22, 1919. Predeceased by his second wife Cec.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Mo; brother Gordon (Maggie); sister Sheila; brother in law Paul; children, Brian, Keith, Donna and their mother Esther; stepdaughter Elizabeth and her childrenTyler, Zackary, Dagan, Ryan, Amelia and Ava; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Bob enlisted in the military in 1939 – 5th Coast Regiment then to England. Returned to O.C.T.U. 1941 – Fort Benning for parachute training, then back to England and N.W. Europe. After the war appointed to Perm. Force as airborne artillery and was discharged in 1950. Since then as a design and consulting engineer and worked for different countries on various projects ranging from Rocket Towers at Cape Kennedy, advisor to Ministry of water and power, in Afghanistan. He was also responsible for building the Port Hardy Bridge as well as many other structures around the world. He was a member of the Duncan Rotary, Royal Canadian Legion and the Masonic Order.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Griffin, the nurses at the Cowichan District Hospital and Harold Wallace for all their care and support.
A Graveside service will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery, 5800 Church Road, Duncan BC on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Followed by a reception at the Royal Canadian Legion on Kenneth St. No flowers by request, if so desired memorial donations may be made to the MSF Canada, 402-720 Spadina Ave., Toronto, ON M5S 2T9 Online condolences may be offered at www.hwwallacecbc.com
