Paul Scarlett Darling

September 17, 1956 - July 17, 2022

Tribute

Paul passed away on July 17, 2022, at the Cowichan District Hospital, after suffering a heart attack at his home in Crofton  BC.

Paul was born September 17, 1956 in Vancouver, BC to Donald and Elsie (Gray) Darling. He spent his youth there and in Long Beach CA, Burk’s Falls and Ottawa ON. As an adult Paul lived and worked in Calgary AB, Kelowna and Vancouver BC, and retired to Vancouver Island. His passion was travel; he had a knack for finding adventure, a talent for storytelling, a sense of humour and curiosity that endeared him to family and friends. He was a great debater and always stood up for what he believed in. He was a devoted son and in his final years was the primary caregiver for his mother, Elsie Darling (now deceased).

Paul leaves behind his partner Monica Foster, brother Christopher Darling, sister Anne Redding, and their families. He is also survived by many cousins and second cousins who were very dear to him.

A Celebration of Life is planned for summer 2023.

Heartfelt thanks go to Crofton Fire Dept., Paramedics and staff at Cowichan District Hospital Emergency.

Relation: Childhood neighbour

I am s sad to hear about the passing of Paul, our next door neighbour on Abingdon in Ottawa. Paul was fun, funny, daring and adventurous when we were young. My little sister Dona used to pick his Mom’s flowers and then present her with a bouquet of her just picked flowers. Lots of nice memories of Paul, his brother and sister and his dear mother.
