Tribute

The family of Kenneth M. Kirkpatrick sorrowfully announce his passing on June 10, 2014.  Ken was born to the late Arthur & Margaret Kirkpatrick on May 20, 1929 in Lloydminister Sask. the youngest of six children.  Predeceased by siblings, Joyce Bratvold, Raymond Kirkpatrick, Gladys Barnsley & Olive Cottrell & by son-in-law Bruce Brown.  Survived by sister Hazel Holtby of Lloydminister, Alberta. Also survived by his wife of 64 years, Aldine & his eight children: Colleen (Greg) Hutton, Ron (Dianne), Don (Doreen), Stephen (Denise), Terry, Gary (Marlene) & Tina Kirkpatrick & Karen Brown, his beloved grandchildren, Shawn (Kristy Kassie) & John Kirkpatrick, Ryan, Tiffany & Bradley Hutton, Meghan (Andrew) Goertz, Kevin (Krystal) & Kelly Brown (Chris Cohoon), Kerry-Anne & Rachel Kirkpatrick, Elyse & Lindsey Bellvau & by great granddaughters, Janna Hutton & Kalea Brown. Also survived by numerous other relatives & inlaws.

 

Ken moved to B.C. in 1943, attended Duncan Jr. High School, where he met Aldine, then left school and joined the Merchant Navy & sailed the world for several years, married in 1950, worked in the mill at Honeymoon Bay, in the woods as a chockerman, as a bartender at both the Tzouhalem & Commercial Hotels & was then hired by the B.C. Power Commission, later, B.C. Hydro, where he worked as a truck driver-operator, until his retirement.  He was a proud member of I.B.C.W. for over 50 years & a member of the Duncan Elks.  Ken was a hard worker, devoted husband, good friend, marvelous dancer & loved to play his accordions.

The family’s heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff of C.D.H., 2nd floor, east & west wings.
