Charly (Bud) Iverson

March 13, 1935 - January 9, 2018

Tribute

Charly (Bud) Henry Gordon, P.Eng passed away January 9, 2018 in Duncan, BC.  He was 82.

He leaves his wife Arlene (Thompson); sons Scott (Valerie), Blaire (Lisa) and Dean (Jeannette); grandchildren Esme and Christian Iverson, Hanna, Victoria and Charlotte Iverson, Clint (Jenna), Trevor, Derek and Levi Shigeoka and Easton Iverson; sister-in-law Sue Davies, nephews Brent (Brianna) and Jeff Iverson; honorary daughter Wang Li Xin Danecki.  He was predeceased by his mother and father, Dolly and Carl, and brother, George.

Bud was born and raised in Banff, Alberta before moving to Vancouver to pursue his education at UBC.  He graduated with his Bachelors of Applied Science in Forest Engineering, where he earned his Professional Engineer designation.  After graduating from university, he worked in various engineering positions, from assistant engineer to divisional engineer, project supervisor and general logging superintendent with British Columbia Forest Products before retiring from Fletcher Challenge Canada as Manager of the Mainland Coast Division in Campbell River.   He continued to consult for CIDA, spending 3 years as project director managing the operation of forest development in northeast China.  Upon returning to Canada, he consulted to Seafor and FRBC before eventually co-founding Iverson Forest Management.

Bud loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and skiing with his family and hunting with his friends.  He was an adventurous cook and loved learning to prepare new dishes.

Bud will be remembered for the stalwart support he gave his friends and coworkers and his unwavering commitment to family. He was a patient listener and although he often used a minimum of words, they had lasting impact on those who heard them.

A celebration of life is scheduled for 1 pm on January 27, 2018 at New Life Baptist Church, 1839 Tzouhalem Rd, Duncan, BC.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bud’s memory may be made to the Finn Fund, c/o Malcolm Island Lion’s Club, Box 64 Sointula BC VOR 2E0

H.W. Wallace Cremation and Burial Centre Staff send our condolences to family and friends.

From: Pieter and Beja Koeleman
Relation: We were both member of the Rotary Club of Campbell River

Dear Arlene and family. Just learned about the passing of Bud. Our sincere condolences and we hope that you will find the consolation and strength to overcome your loss. Personal I have fond memories of Bud when he was Rotarian here in Campbell River not using many words, but when he did we were listening.
He left a lasting impression when you both went to Harbin in China. Not realizing that it was for that long time. You both were active involved.
We wish you all the best Arlene.

Warm regards, Pieter and Beja

From: Lorne & Karen Todoruk

We just saw Bud’s obituary in the Campbell River Mirror and we extend our most sincere condolences Arlene to you and our family. We thought a lot of Bud and highly respected his management and leadership. We have always remembered your hospitality and the wonderful Christmas parties you and Bud hosted for BCFP employees and their families. May he rest in peace.
