Chanda Leanne Hawkes (nee Dalziel)
May 10, 1972 - February 17, 2022
Tribute
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Chanda, loving wife, daughter, mom and sister. Chanda joined the angels at the young age of 49. She fought a quick, valiant battle with cancer. During this time of pain and disbelief, Chanda showed amazing courage and grace.
Chanda was born May 10, 1972, in Vancouver, BC to Jim and Bobbi Dalziel. The family moved to Chemainus, BC when Chanda was a toddler where Chanda was raised and still remained. Through Chanda’s school years, she made and maintained many beautiful lasting friendships. In her 20’s, she had and loved her two sons Chance and Brandon unconditionally. During Chanda’s working career, she was nominated for the “Cowichan Valley Black Tie Awards”; while working at Utopia Bakery. On August 19, 2016, she married her soulmate Kevin Hawkes and gained another son Kache. On February 17, 2017, Chanda became the proudest Granny to a beautiful granddaughter Kylie. In 2020, Chanda worked hard and received her H.C.A. Certificate, and during this time, she also passed her class 4 driver’s license, she was so very proud of herself. She loved working with her clients through Clements Society. Chanda found strength and courage through her many years with AA, and with the groups compassion, support and encouragement Chanda maintained her sobriety.
Chanda had a passion for art; where she tried her hand at many different mediums, which her family and friends admired. She had a passion for scenic and family photography, music, road trips, sandwiches, ice cream treats and especially family time. Chanda will be remembered for her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and compassionate soul.
Survived by her husband Kevin Hawkes; sons Chance Russell, Brandon Dalziel (Wyntr) and Kache Hawkes; granddaughter Kylie; Mom Bobbi Dalziel; mother-in-law Lois Higgins; father-in-law and mother Dave and Lynn Hawkes; sisters Dennine (Philip) Scott and Robin (Mike) Gins; sister-in-law Christine (Rich) Swift; nieces and nephews Starr (Chris) Blackwood, Randi (Phi) Aird, Tasha (Robin) Tullio, Jami (Lloyd) Dalziel, Nick Gins, Clark, Anna, Parker, and Ryan Swift; great-nieces and nephew Tiff, Kenzi, Dominik, Khobie, and many more aunts, uncles, special cousins, friends and co-workers.

Too many memories to post but we grew from babies to adults, together and I will never forget all the times I spent at your home (when parents didn’t have to worry when we were gone all day). From riding our bikes, to skating at the arena, to countless hours exploring the woods by your home. Shine down on us all, beautiful Girl ❤️
