Kenneth Ivor Evans
Tribute
On October 22, 2024 accompanied by his loving wife Olivia a dear cousin, Kenny came to the end of his journey after a short but very aggressive battle with cancer. He was reunited on the other side by his loving little sidekicks Harvey and Simon his favourite dog and cat.
Kenny is survived by his wife Olivia, daughter Payton, step-daughter Kaitlyn (Joe) grandsons William and Percy, older son Kale in Alberta; his parents Grant Evans and Donna Jury (Schneider); older brother Eli (Jill) and nephew and nieces Kerri Gabe, Maia and Madison; Kenny also leaves behind his cousins fondly known as the Cuzzzballs Dwayne, Kim, Brandy, Bob, and Haley and aunts and uncles on both sides of the family and many friends including his longtime friend and brother from another mother and father, William (Christy). He is predeceased by his uncle Rick Evans and maternal and paternal grandparents.
In his life Ken worked at several different jobs/careers that took him across Canada. He spent several years in Alberta while working in the oil and gas industry and his oldest child Kale was born and raised there. In 2008 Ken returned to Vancouver Island when his relationship ended and that is where he ended up meeting the love of his life, a single mother Olivia and her daughter Kaitlyn.
As Olivia and Ken became a couple Ken had to step into the role of step-father and boy did Ken & Kaitie have a good time learning to love/hate each other (teenagers are so much fun). Fortunately love prevailed and their relationship blossomed as they bonded over many shared interests. Kenny and Olivia welcomed their youngest child Payton in June of 2015. There is no doubt that Payton gets many attributes from her father, she knows what she wants and pursues her goals with tireless conviction, like her father she is willing to do the research to figure it out. Kenny was so proud of his children and loved seeing how he influenced them as they evolved and grew. He was able to celebrate becoming a grandfather for the first time admiring how much his daughter Kaitlyn had stepped into her new role as a mother and how incredibly proud Payton was of being an Aunty.
Kenny loved the outdoors and enjoyed nothing more than going on long drives listening to his music. Music was his therapy and felt there was nothing more therapeutic than an ocean beach where he could drink in all the natural beauty that surrounds us. He loved the autumn when all the leaves were changing colours and falling from the trees and campfires were once again permitted after the bans in the summer. Music was a huge passion of his, leaning towards metal bands he enjoyed everything from Slipknot to Pantera, Metallica to Kid Rock. In the 16 years together Ken and Liv went to at least 40 concerts together and with friends and family.
Kenny loved good food he was always creating new and interesting ways to cook or barbeque his food. He was an avid gardener especially when it came to his love of cannabis. There was no guy more knowledgeable, he was known to friends and followers as the “chocolate guy” as he did not stop until he perfected the plant growing and 420 masterpiece creations.
