Roxanne Maureen Caldwell (Devlin)
May 15, 1943 - December 5, 2023
Tribute
Suddenly, but peacefully, Roxanne passed away, with her devoted and loving son Blair & her dear cousin Barb at her side. Roxanne was predeceased by her husband, Larry Caldwell in 2002 and her sons Brent in 1974 and David in 1978, both at the age of nine. She was also predeceased by; her parents, William (Bill) Devlin and Annie (Nan) Devlin (nee Thompson), her older brother Roger and her younger brother Brian.
Roxanne was born in Winnipeg, grew up on James Island and later, lived in Departure Bay and Victoria. She and Larry married in 1962 and eventually settled in Duncan.
Rox enjoyed countless hours at soccer fields, baseball diamonds and hockey rinks, cheering on and supporting her boys’ youth sports along with making many lifelong friends. She was deeply touched with the naming of ‘Caldwell Field’ at Evans Park.
No matter her age, her place of residence or her own personal, tragic losses, Roxanne was stubbornly selfless, positive & active in community service. She was a long time volunteer at the Canadian Cancer Society in Duncan and wherever she saw a need. She was without fail, supportive and caring to her immediate & extended family & friends
Roxanne and Larry travelled near and far, and when Roxanne retired from Whittome’s Travel she and Larry enjoyed many adventures in their motorhome. In later years Rox loved her annual trips to Mexico with her son Blair.
Purely by nature Roxanne was an inspiring and motivating example of the best of the human spirit. In your own pain, see the suffering of others and think what you can do to help them. Be positive. Without fail, be kind.
Roxanne is survived and deeply missed by her son Blair Caldwell, cousin Barbara Pope, her extended family and many, many friends.
Blair & Barb sincerely thank everyone who supported and cared for Roxanne during her health struggles. Special thanks to Daphne Lucci, her Diabetes Counsellor and Dr. Ibrahim her family Doctor.
A celebration of Roxanne’s life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Cowichan District Hospital Foundation Society or a charity of one’s choice are greatly appreciated.
