Michael (Mike) McDonald
January 4, 1966 - October 30, 2023
Tribute
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Michael “Mike” McDonald, who left us on October 30, 2023. Born on January 4, 1966, in Calgary, Alberta to parents Mary and Geordie McDonald. Mike’s vivacious personality and need for speed left a lasting impression on anyone who dared to take a ride with him.
Strongly defined by his wit, animation, and volume, Mike was the most dedicated Son and had a knack for filling his close family and friends with laughter and joy. His sentimental nature never failed to touch the hearts of those around him, and he often expressed this through his overly cheesy phrases and I love yous’, with eyes always full of tears. His lifelong lesson, was to find beauty and interest in the unusual, a sentiment that was reflected in his own personal oddities and treasures such as collector cars and fast toys.
Mike’s proudest achievement, and the crown jewel of his life, was his beautiful daughter. His boundless love and dedication as a father remain an inspiring testament to those who knew him. As he often said, his daughter was his greatest accomplishment and a persistent source of his joy and pride.
Part of his legacy will be the thrilling, fast-paced rides that he so loved, reflecting his vivacious spirit and love for the extraordinary. Mike had an incredible ability to find joy and excitement in the simple moments in life and his contagious laughter still echoes in the minds of his loved ones.
Mike will be greatly missed by his daughter, siblings, those close to his heart and all those that affectionately knew him as “Uncle Mike.” His larger-than-life persona, Macgyver wisdom, and whimsical sense of humor have left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of sharing in his life.
We will celebrate Mike, his life, his love, and his unique spirit. In a celebration of his life held on Thursday November 9, 2023 at 2:00pm from the Kingdom City Christian Church (1604 Summerfield Blvd. SE, Airdire Alberta) Followed by a Farewell Bon Fire and Sunset at Mikes farm.
All are welcome to one or both of the ceremonies held in his honor, those attending the bonfire should bring a chair, a story/memory and a beverage of your choice.

Uncle Mikey, you will also be a part of my childhood, you were the first one to give a fast ride in your fancy cars. The terrifying boat rides in your high horse power boat. I will always remember your laugh and your kind heart. Rest easy uncle Mike.
