Charles "Brian" Nicholson
July 9, 1942 - October 17, 2021
Tribute
With Great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Charles ‘BRIAN ‘Nicholson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and uncle. Brian passed away on October 17,2021 peacefully with his family by his side.
Predeceased by his daughter Cheryl Lynn, Mother Margaret, Father Freddy and Sister Merle he is survived by, Wife: Beverley, Sons: Doug (Monique) Blair, Troy (Teresa) Daughter: Barb (Clint), Brother: Kent (Darcy), Grandchildren: Brandon, Kyle, Caslin, Dallan, Hayley, Hannah and Great Grandchild: Mayson Charles (Brian and Mayson shared a special bond that will be sealed for eternity).
Brian was born on July 9th, 1942, a warm summers day in Edmonton, Alberta and after a couple military moves, he was raised in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. As a young boy he played hockey, soccer and was a record holder in track that held for decades. He was a very talented hockey player and had opportunities to play professional hockey, but made the decision to move west to join the NAVY. Enlisting in the NAVY is what brought Brain to Vancouver Island where he met his future bride of 60 years on October 9th, 1960
Over the next 10 years he began raising his family and what a ride that has been. In the early 70s Brian ventured into commercial fishing, skippering the New Mascot, later in the 70s he bought a logging truck starting Nicholson Ventures in 1979, which inspired him to go long-haul trucking. During the 38 years of his trucking company, he worked along side his wife, sons, daughter and son in law. In this time, he travelled many miles through out Canada and the United States. Brian loved driving and it truly was his passion.
Brian was very passionate about golfing especially when he hit the course with his sons and friends (George and Kenny). He later found happiness in travelling abroad in his Dutch star coach, if he wasn’t away in it, you could often find him just hanging out in it having a coffee. Brian enjoyed and would travel great distances to watch his grandchildren play sports from hockey, soccer, and softball. No game was played with out him cheering them on. Brian loved many things in life but nothing more than his family. His proudest achievements were being a dad, Grampa and Great Grampa
Dad was truly loved by all that knew him, we will miss him more than words can express,
